Architectural students and junior architects/designers were asked to design an original Corian® reception desk for a compact ‘meet and greet’ coworking space.One of the judges, designer Stuart Rose, said: “ I love the use of the overlapping surfaces and it seems to be a very polished and thought-out design”.The judging panel also included designer Amanda Levete, Gary Baker, Director of CD UK, Charlotte Taylor, deputy editor of OnOffice magazine, Kevin Hoy, founder of Cutting Edge / designer / innovator and Jenny Oughton, Senior Project Manager, Cutting Edge.The judges were looking for originality of the design that displayed imagination and stand out from the others. Also a design making effective use of Corian®, that minimises material wastage.
The winners will see their work designed and fabricated and prizes included Simply Rhino training covering 3D Modelling, Rendering or Parametric Design.
Cutting Edge continues their interest in nurturing the next generation of designers by working with designers at Central St Martins.
